FAQs
How does femSense help you get pregnant?
femSense tells you exactly when your fertility is at its highest and when you ovulate. This way you can relax and concentrate on your desire to have children and increase your chances of becoming pregnant.
Using a sensor patch worn on your body, femSense continuously measures your body temperature. The temperature increase during ovulation allows femSense to determine when you are ovulating. The app accompanies you during use and evaluates your temperature data individually for you using an intelligent algorithm. In the calendar, you can see an overview of your cycle data and fertility and when your next patch should be applied. The day you apply the patch is determined based on your cycle and your period in order to measure your individual ovulation.
The app tells you when your fertility is at its highest and when you ovulate - the rest is up to you.
How does femSense work for those wanting to have children?
femSense is a new form of basal temperature measurement that is based on continuous measurement and is not dependent on external influences. The femSense system consists of a skin patch with an integrated temperature measurement chip. This patch is stuck on the side three fingers below the armpit and, once activated, measures your body temperature continuously over several days of your cycle.
The patch should be read twice a day, in the morning and evening, to enable accurate measurements. The femSense app is used to read and evaluate the recorded data. Based on your measured data, the app shows you when you are ovulating and gives you information about your most fertile days and your cycle for your desire to have a child. The app reminds you to read the patch and also guides you through the application and recording of your cycle symptoms.
What data is collected and what happens to my data?
To evaluate ovulation, temperature data is collected, as well as data about the individual cycle, such as cycle length and period length. This is recorded in encrypted form and treated confidentially in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation. Furthermore, it is possible for everyone to record their cycle symptoms and data about well-being, physical symptoms, sports & activities and nutrition in order to learn more about themselves and their cycle.
Who is femSense suitable for?
femSense is for women of fertile age between 16 and 49 who either want to have children or want to track the fertility status of their menstrual cycle. The Fertility mode is recommended for women aged 18 and over.
Users should have a regular menstrual cycle between 21 and 35 days with a maximum deviation of +/- 3 days.
If your cycles are very irregular, the reliability of femSense may decrease, so in this case you should consult a doctor before using it.
If you are currently undergoing hormone therapy, the accuracy of femSense may be affected, as these often affect your natural cycle.
When can femSense not be used?
Under certain medical indications, femSense cannot reliably determine ovulation. These include:
- Severe, acute or chronic diseases
- nicotine or alcohol abuse
- amenorrhea
- oligomenorrhea (too infrequent menstrual bleeding)
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Obesity (BMI > 30)
- hirsutism
- Known allergy to components of skin patches
- Medications that can affect body temperature as a side effect
- Hormone treatments (e.g. birth control pill, hormone injection, hormonal coil, etc.) can affect body temperature and thus affect the reliability of femSense.
Extreme weight conditions may reduce the reliability of femSense. If you are unsure whether femSense is suitable for you, talk to your doctor before using it.
