femSense: The Benefits of the Ovulation Tracker

We are very excited to announce that we can now offer you a new bundle in our shop! You can now get the femSense Ovulation and Cycle Tracker, which helps you determine your fertile days, along with a monthly supply of VILAVIT Female for only €109 (instead of €128.90) in our shop.

We sat down with Sarah Lechner, Vice President of femSense, to learn more about femSense's vision.

Dear Sarah, we are thrilled to learn more about femSense today! femSense has already led to over 23,000 pregnancies. What is your vision, and how does your ovulation and cycle tracker support couples trying to conceive?

Our mission is to bring women closer to their cycles. We aim to promote cycle health and provide women with an understanding of their cycles so they can make better decisions in their daily lives. Because only when I know my ovulation can I determine which phase of the cycle I am in and plan my pregnancy accordingly.

We help women find the right timing for intercourse to avoid pressure during this stressful time of trying to conceive.

Can you explain what the femSense Ovulation Tracker is and how it helps women determine their fertile days?

Our product consists of an app and a body-worn temperature sensor that continuously measures body temperature. The woman enters her cycle length and the last date of her period into the app, and our algorithm determines the fertile days. The temperature is continuously measured during these fertile days using the sensor patch. This means the woman wears our patch for an average of three to five, but a maximum of seven days during the cycle. We take care of the measurement and evaluation of the collected data through the app and guide women in its use.

We can determine ovulation post-ovulatory, and that's exactly what we do. We don't just predict ovulation; we confirm that it has occurred.

This information helps a woman trying to conceive to identify her highly fertile days, thus improving the chances of successful fertilization.

What other information do you collect, and how are these data used?

For our algorithm, we collect data such as cycle length and period length.

In the app, all cycle data, as well as complaints and symptoms, can be entered to better understand one's individual cycle.

It is possible to track well-being and mental health, physical symptoms, activities and sports, as well as nutrition, such as the intake of micronutrients. The cycle has so many effects on the body and manifests differently in every woman. We help women understand these effects and the relationships between the cycle, well-being, and symptoms.

All information and data are treated confidentially and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

How long should one wear your patch to gain a good understanding of their cycle?

On average, a woman wears our product for three months. Sometimes it can take longer, up to six months, for a natural pregnancy to occur.

How does femSense differ from other methods of cycle tracking?

Many cycle trackers calculate the fertile window, which essentially anyone can do based on clinical guidelines. The problem here is that a woman's cycle and ovulation are very individual.

We differ by confirming ovulation through continuous temperature measurement. We are an approved medical device for both cycle tracking and fertility.

Compared to the conventional method of measuring basal temperature with a thermometer, we continuously measure temperature, thus achieving much higher precision. Additionally, the woman does not have to measure the temperature herself at the same time; the measurement and data analysis are automatic.

Who is femSense suitable for?

femSense is suitable for all women who want to understand their cycle, especially for women trying to conceive. As an approved medical device, we must mention a few contraindications.

femSense is not suitable for women with

an irregular cycle

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)

a BMI >30

Hormonal contraception (as a natural cycle is absent here)

Do you have any advice for women trying to conceive?

A general piece of advice is patience and relaxation, even though it's emotionally challenging. Unfortunately, it doesn't always happen immediately, depending on many factors and especially age. However, if you're not pregnant after 6-12 months, you should seek help from experts and get medically evaluated.

Dear Sarah, thank you for the insights into femSense! We look forward to a successful collaboration with you. Together, we want to help couples on their fertility journey and ensure that their greatest dream comes true soon.
